Grand Marais City Parks
For such a little village, Grand Marais has an abundance of parks.
Downtown opens to the harbor at the aptly named, Harbor Park. Heading east along the cobblestone beach leads out to Artists Point with picnic tables and beaches on the East Bay of Lake Superior and a lovely little path out to the 'island.'
Up the hill in the residential part of town, you'll find playgrounds at the local schools, tennis courts, a pavilion and playground at the Community Center and just a bit further up the hill, the magnificent overlook and trails at Pincushion Mountain.
The campground and rec area make up the west side of the harbor and Lake Superior shoreline. In addition to campsites, we have a picnic area, pavilion, playground, Rec Hall, cobblestone beach, boat access, accessible Lake Loop Trail and Sweetheart's Bluff Nature Area.
Our park space is available for use for special events. If you would like to hold an event we do have a special event permit application process that would need to be filled out and turned into the park office for approval.
See the campground map for a layout of the rec area.
